Eugene ?Gene? Collier, age 80, of Savage, MD passed Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, MD. Born December 27, 1929 in Rogersville, TN he was the son of the late Mollie (Walden) and Jasper Collier, Sr. He was predeceased by his twin sister Irene; siblings Maude Keirsey, Esta LeRoy, Lillie Barton, and Jasper Collier, Jr.; and six infant siblings. Mr. Collier served faithfully in the U.S. Army from 1951-54 in Korea. He was employed as an expeditor for SingerLink for many years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite as a 32 Degree Mason; was a Member and Past Master of Solomon's Lodge #121 A.F. & A.M.; honorary Past Master of Patmos Lodge #70; Life member of the Rodgersville V.F.W. and a member of the American Legion Post #60 in Laurel, MD. Surviving is his wife Phyllis G. (Weatherholtz) Collier; daughter Joyce Reyes and her husband Antonio of Savage, MD; grandchildren Antonio, Kristen, and Joseph Reyes; special nephews Guy, Jr. and John LeRoy; special nieces Syrilla Connor and Wanda Brown and also several other nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Olivet Cemetery with Pastor Otis ?Buzz? Weatherholt officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Solomon's Lodge #121 A.F. & A.M., 101 Fair Street, Savage, MD 20763.
