Elvin Elburt Baker, age 76 of Poolesville, MD since 2000, formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday afternoon, May 1, 2006 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. Born November 3, 1929 in Yreka, CA, he was the son of the late Barney Baker & Ada Luella (Cross) Baker. Elvin was a US Army veteran and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He retired in 1991 from the University of Maryland after 30 years and moved to Moorefield. His wife, Anna (Lenhart) Baker preceded him in death in July 1994. A sister, Mary (Baker) Forest also preceded him in death. Surviving is a son, David Victor Baker of Beltsville, MD; a daughter, Janice Lyn (Baker) Watson and husband James of Gaithersburg, MD; two grandsons, Nathan Clark Vanderlinden and Nicholas Daniel Watson both of Gaithersburg, MD; a nephew, John Franklin Yeardley and wife Carina and great nieces and nephews, Megan, Ethan, Zeke & Sage of Laurel, MD Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with Bishop David Bradley officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army and the Moorefield Veteran's Honor Guard at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Fraley Funeral Home.
