Elmo G. ?Joby? Simmons, age 87 of J.C. Markwood Road, Purgitsville, WV passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2009 at his residence. Born June 19, 1922 in Rig, WV, he was the son of the late John S. & Mabel (Barr) Simmons. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Denney-Moyers-Pratt V.F.W. Post# 9606, a member of the Old Fields Baptist Church and retired from Rockingham Poultry after 36 years. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Leona (Hartman) Simmons; a daughter, Nancy (husband Donald) Redinger of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Elva See of Ridgeley, WV; a brother, Rolland ?Dump? Simmons of Moorefield, WV; two grandchildren, Annette Reed & David ?Duke? Crites and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Reed & Nathan Reed. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St. with Pastor Dan Howard officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Army & the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard at Walnut Grove Gardens, Rt. 55 near Moorefield.
