Elmer Thomas Cook departed this life on February 5, 2006 with peace in his heart. God blessed Elmer with 97 good years. He and his wife, Alice Marie Cook, who departed this life in 1991, shared a life together that began on October 12, 1940. Together they raised a family which consisted of two sons, Robert Thomas Cook & Gerald Franklin Cook, both of Moorefield, two daughters; Ruth Elizabeth Davy, who passed away December 18, 1978, and Brenda Lee Crider and husband Danny of Old Fields, WV; a grandson, Michael Davy of Moorefield and two granddaughters, Danielle & Robin Crider of Old Fields. His love for children extended to his three great-grandchildren; Erica, Shannon and Reagan Davy. Elmer was the last surviving member of his family. He was the only son, born September 13, 1908 in Hardy County to Phillip & Sadie (Wolfe) Cook. He had four sisters who preceded him in death. Throughout his life he gave his children the best advice on life and love. He was a very quiet man who never complained about the issues in life; he just tried to make them better. He enjoyed playing his ?French Harp?, banjo and guitar to anyone who would listen. He would not want anyone to grieve for his life on earth but celebrate his new life with Jesus. There is peace in knowing he is now united with his wife where they are planting their garden in Heaven. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with Pastor Glenden Berg officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 6 ? 8 PM Tuesday at the Fraley Funeral Home Memorials may be directed to the Charity of choice.
