Elizabeth Maxine Betty Fertig, age 91 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018 at her residence. Born on April 11, 1926 at Lost City, WV, she was a daughter of the late Russel Jennings Whittington and Gladys Marie Fultz Whittington. On September 14, 1945 she married her late husband of 70 years, Robert B. Fertig, Sr. whom predeceased her in March 2016. Two sisters, Joyce Ruddle and Toni Mills also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church. A homemaker and soul mate for her late husband, Betty was known for her cooking and baking ability, as her pies were always sought after by guests in her home and church members at fellowship meals. A seamstress of sort, she did beautiful embroidery work and made quilts for her children. Surviving are two sons; Robert B. (wife Dora) Fertig, Jr. and Philip D. (wife Vicki) Fertig both of Moorefield, WV; a daughter, Sue F. Williams of Moorefield, WV; seven grandchildren, Dana S. (Charlene) Fertig, Jason S. Fertig, Sarah E. (Tim) Sions, Emily Fertig, Kelsey R. (Patrick) Allen, Jacqueline (Bill) Rollyson & Carly B. Fertig; eleven great-grandchildren, Brittani Fertig, Holden Sions, Alexis Fertig, Caden Fertig, Alaena Fertig, Sutton Allen, Adeline Fertig, Piper Kesner, Jayce Sions, Hudson Allen & Dean Rollyson; two sisters, Jean Puffenbarger of Ft. Seybert, WV and Beverly Eader of Kensington, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Rick Bergdoll officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care that was provided by Lynn Lyon.
