Eleanor Joy Shirk

Eleanor Joy Sherman Shirk, age 69 of Moorefield, WV formerly of Fisher, WV passed away this morning August 8, 2005, at the residence of her son Gary. Born October 17, 1935 in Fisher, WV, she was a daughter of the late Marvin B. ?Jake? Sherman and Beulah (Rexrode) Sherman. She married John R. Shirk, Sr. on June 6, 1953 and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1982. A brother, Junior Sherman also preceded her in death on February 1, 2004. Surviving are six sons, John R. Shirk, Jr. of Old Fields, WV, Danny A. Shirk of Holly Springs, NC, Michael C. Shirk, Gary L. Shirk & Scott W. Shirk of Moorefield, WV; Lincoln T. Shirk of Marrero, LA; a sister, Bonnie L. Smith of Winchester, VA; a brother, John W. Sherman of Arthur, WV; a half-brother, Charles Sherman of Arthur, WV; 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Oak Dale Christian Church with the Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh, Rev. Charles Snyder & Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Kessel Cemetery, Kessel, WV. The family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 7 ? 9 PM Wednesday at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Mrs. Shirk will be taken to the church one hour prior to services on Thursday.
