Elda Grace Painter

Elda Grace Painter, age 96 of Moorefield, WV passed away Monday evening, January 20, 2020 at her residence. Born on January 10, 1924 in Moorefield, WV she was a daughter of the late Ocie Arnold Leatherman and Martha Elizabeth Affleck Leatherman. Her husband, Phillip Paul Painter preceded her in death in June 1990. Sisters, Ava M. Aylor, Virginia L. Garrett, Neva E. Poling & Mary E. Walters and brothers, Harlan A. Leatherman & Carl L. Leatherman also preceded her in death.

Elda was a lifelong member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for 50+ years. She enjoyed crafts and often crocheted, did needlepoint, ceramics and made ornaments and other adornments from glass beads. She was an icon at the Hardy County Farms Service for over 30 years, was a member of the Home Demonstration Club (modern CEOS) and was a member of the Moorefield Chapter #102, Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving is a brother, Paul H. Leatherman of Moorefield, WV along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 12:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Mark Flinn officiant. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at 12:00 PM (noon) at the funeral home.
