Edna Maxine Kessel

April 11, 1932 — July 28, 2020

Edna Maxine Kessel, age 88 of Kessel Road, Fisher, WV, passed away Tuesday evening, July 28, 2020 at the Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg, WV. Born on April 11, 1932 in Hancock, MD, she was a daughter of the late Solomon Clinton Hoover and Mary Bernice Rexrode Hoover. Her husband of 66 years, LeRoy Emerson Kessel preceded her in death in July 2018. Four sisters and six brothers also preceded her in death.

Maxine’s family is proud that she had always been a helper, as was exhibited in her career as a social worker, as a church volunteer for the Oak Grove Church and the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, as well as serving as the coordinator for the Moorefield after school program.  She was a kind and fun grandmother, always ready to bake and shop.  She taught her granddaughters how to bake and grow produce to can and preserve.  Maxine was a farmer’s wife and always had food ready to feed the crew after work on the farm.

Surviving is a son, Larry S. Kessel and daughter-in-law, Ellen Jane Inskeep Kessel of Fisher, WV; two granddaughters, Lesley Kessel Parisi, D.V.M. and husband Thomas Parisi, D.V.M. of Fisher, WV and Laura Elizabeth Kessel of Fisher, WV; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Emerson Parisi, Emily June Parisi & Matthew Thaddeus Parisi; and a sister, Leona Hoover Jacobs of Ft. Myers, FL.
