Douglas Dell Bishoff, age 61 of N Elm Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday afternoon, December 27, 2010 at his residence. Born March 9, 1949 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of C. Berdell Bishoff (wife Bonnie) of Petersburg, WV and Jean (Vandiver) Bishoff of the Grant County Nursing Home. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Glenda (Bergdoll) Bishoff; a son, ?Nick? Bishoff (wife Jennifer) of Moorefield, WV; a grandson, Seth Bishoff and a sister, Cindy Allen (husband Jim) of Baker, WV. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren with Pastors Rick Bergdoll, Katherine Jackson & Jay Parkins officiating. Interment will follow with firefighter?s honors at the Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 AM, Thursday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St. where the family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 6 ? 8 PM. Doug attended WVU School of Engineering from 1967-1969, obtained an Associates Degree in Electronics from Blue Ridge Community College in 1970; he was a photographer with his own studio from 1970 to 1980. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Shepherd University in Emergency Medicine and Business in 2005. Doug was an avid pilot obtaining his license in 1987 and was a member of the Potomac Valley Pilot?s Association where he participated in Angel Flight: he was a Paramedic for Fraley Ambulance Service for 39 years where he doubled as an instructor to many around the state. He was a member of the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company-46 for 38 years serving in many offices: he served as the President of the Love Memorial Clinic Board of Directors since 1991 and as Administrator since 1993. He had been a member of the Jaycee?s when they were active in Moorefield and was presently employed by Valley Health Systems as a Paramedic. Doug?s legacy was to ensure that his grandson Seth would obtain his pilot?s license and explore the skies as he had over the years. Memorials in Doug?s honor for his legacy may be sent to the Seth Bishoff Pilot Fund, c/o Capon Valley Bank, PO Box 240, Moorefield, WV 26836. Memorials may also be made to the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company, 114 Kuykendall Lane, Moorefield, WV 26836.
