Dorsey Gaynor Helmick

Dorsey Gaynor Helmick, age 87 of Railroad St., Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday morning, October 5, 2005 at the E.A. Hawse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV, where he had been a resident since November 2002. Born May 5, 1918 at Bass, WV, he was the son of the late Benjamin Arthur Helmick & Hannah Rebecca (Kuykendall) Helmick. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Helmick & Earl Helmick and a daughter-in-law, Linda (Loughry) Helmick. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, a skilled mechanic and wood craftsman. He retired from the Fertig Cabinet Company of Moorefield in 1983. On October 12, 1944 he married Orpha Mae Ganoe who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years are seven sons; Dorsey Gaynor Helmick. Jr. Gary Allen Helmick, Brian Dale Helmick, Kevin Maurice Helmick and wife Winnie & Keith Helmick all of Moorefield, WV, Gregory Lee Helmick and wife Christa Jo of Purgitsville, WV, Leonard Eugene Helmick and wife Becky of Bridgewater, VA, two daughters; Linda Kay Miller and husband Jim & Trina Elnora Branson of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Curtis Helmick and wife Nellie of Cumberland, MD; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 6:00 PM Friday at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with Pastor Harold Garber officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 ? 6 PM prior to services.
