She was not just Nonnie to Zoe and Quincy but to most who knew her. Nonnie’s passion was children. During her early teaching career, she taught Head Start in Moorefield and at the Burch School on the mountain. She later moved to Moorefield Elementary where she taught Third Grade, First Grade, Computer Lab and Title One and even after retirement she continued her career three days a week as an interventionist. Nonnie loved all her kids.
Nonnie’s close second passion was golf. In her early years, she won numerous ladies club championships at Valley View Golf Club where she was a member of the Ladies Association. She and “D” passed the love of golf on to Zoe and Quincy. Nothing made her more proud than being able to coach them as the Moorefield High School Golf Coach for many years.
Nonnie also loved to travel. She and “D” enjoyed their yearly trips to Myrtle Beach and wherever Jeff and Angie would take her, she was there. Her favorite places were the Bahamas and Cancun and wherever her family was with her.
To most that knew her, sometimes it could be Nonnie’s way or the highway but she had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back. We all will miss her so much but she will live on in every child that she touched. Until we see you again, we love you so much Nonnie!
