Donald Kenneth Poling

Donald Kenneth Poling, age 85 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 18, 2009 at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV. Born February 7, 1924 in Moorefield., WV, he was the son of the late Mitchell Felix Poling, Jr. & Mary Etta (Simmons) Poling. Don was the owner/operator of Poling?s Grocery for many years; was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War; a member of the Denney-Moyers-Pratt Post #9606 V.F.W. and a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Pauline M. Sherman, Elizabeth A. Poling, Mary Phyllis Poling & Edna I. Poling, and five brothers; Harry M. Poling, Frank W. Poling, Ray A. Poling, Lindsey L. Poling & Karl M. Poling. Surviving is a daughter, Donna Weese of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Felix Poling of Moorefield, WV; his former spouse, Becky Smith of Moorefield, WV and step-son, Allen Davy (wife Kathi) & step granddaughter Anne of Old Fields, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St. with Pastor Ed Craft officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army & the Moorefield Veteran?s Honor Guard at Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 ? 9 PM Saturday.
