Donald Elmer Carr

Donald Elmer Carr, age 94 of Rig Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday morning, December 21, 2009 at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV. Born April 27, 1915 in Cabins, WV he was the son of the late Sylvanus & Hilda Catherine (Stover) Carr. A daughter, Elaine Funkhouser; grandsons, Jerod Carr and Richard Stafiej; six siblings, Glenn, Olie, Dayton, Carl, Bill and an infant sister Margaret preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 72 years, Alice Mae (Riggleman) Carr; five sons, Larry Carr of Durbin, WV, Granvil ?Bud? Carr of Sunnyvale, CA, Dennis Carr of Sacramento, CA, Victor Carr of Moorefield, WV and Phillip Carr of Maysville, WV; three daughters, Sherry Stafiej of Laurel, MD, Carolyn Goldizen of Dorcas, WV and Libby Self of West End, NC; two brothers, Sylvanus ?Bink? Carr and Kenny Carr of Moorefield, WV; five sisters, Edna Swick of Ft. Ashby, WV, Mary Thomas of Short Gap, WV, Nina Weatherholtz, Lona ?Sis? Sherman & Midge Kessel all of Moorefield, WV; twenty grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with the Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Interment will follow at the Newhouse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 ? 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
