Donald Wayne Anderson, age 73 of Magnolia Street, Moorefield, WV passed away Sunday morning, August 5, 2012 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born January 17, 1939 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late Roy Raymond Anderson and Mildred M. (Stevens) Anderson Mongold. A member of the Moorefield Church of Christ, he was also a US Navy veteran where he served on the USS Coral Sea of the Pacific fleet where he became a ?Golden Shellback?. He had attended WVU School of Forestry and then found his way to Washington, DC where he worked for the National Park Service at the White House and Arlington National Cemetery. He was the co founder of the Ruddle-Anderson Tree Service which eventually became the Anderson Tree Service of Gaithersburg, MD. He left the business to his sons after 30 years but was a tree expert for over 50 years. Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Connie K. (Brooks) Anderson; three sons, Jim (wife Sandra) Anderson of Harrisonburg, VA, David (wife Danielle) Anderson of Dickerson, MD and Dustin Anderson of Martinsburg, WV; a daughter, Tamara K. (husband Tom) Monroe of Saratoga Springs, NY; a brother, Ken Anderson of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Kay Funkhouser of Mathias, WV and three grandchildren, Remy Leigh Anderson, Diesel Wayne Anderson and Racer Roy Anderson. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with John Leninger officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites Accorded by the U.S. Navy & the Moorefield Veteran?s Honor Guard at the Olivet Cemetery.
