On November 11, 2021, Dianne Warfield Marquis of Cabins, WV, passed away after a 22-year battle with breast cancer at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her daughter and her loving grandchildren at her side, with the assistance of the compassionate staff of Last Minute Lillies. Dianne was born on October 1, 1944, in Massillon, OH, a daughter of the late Dean Edward Clark and Rachel Dawn Thompson Furlow. Dianne was a fierce and selfless warrior who fought the battle alone until recent months without wanting to cause grief or concern to her loved ones. She set a new standard for “strength” that will live on forever.
Among Dianne’s many academic achievements, she received her RBA from Shepherd College as well as additional degrees for English Journalism and Nursing. In Dianne’s childhood years, she spent time traveling back and forth from Spain and later in life spent a great deal of time teaching ESL classes and providing translation services for many local businesses.
Dianne was also a gifted artist and received many awards and recognition for her arts and crafts. Her passion was volunteer work, and she donated a large amount of her time to the local schools as well as the, YMCA, OVLG, Ruritans, United Methodist Women and the WVCEOS.
Surviving is her husband of 34 years, Lewis Jearld Marquis; a son, Jacob Marquis of TN; a daughter, Rebecca Mowery of Baker, WV; three grandchildren, Ashley Mowery, Joshua Park and Hunter Nelson; three sisters, Rose Regan of Tilghman, MD, Mary Beavers of Tularosa, NM and Adele Donnelly of Trappe, MD and a family friend who was like a son, Billy Keplinger.
