DeWitt "June" Black,

DeWitt Black, Jr., June, age 85 of Rig Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday morning December 29, 2013 at his residence. Born May 1, 1928 in Petersburg, WV, he was the son of the late DeWitt Black, Sr. and Nellie Jane (Hedrick) Black. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a past member of the VFW and American Legion; a member of the Oak Dale Christian Church; and a Honorary Member of the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company 46. He had retired from the Hardy County Schools after 30+ years of service as a bus driver. A sister, Mary, a brother Lynn and a grandson, Josh Reider preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Reda J. (Dovell) Black; two daughters, Kay Pratt and Judy Reider of Moorefield, WV; two grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army at the South Branch Memorial Gardens near Petersburg, WV. The family will receive friends from 2 4 & 6 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
