Denise Stotlemyer-Cruz

Denise Reneé Stotlemyer-Cruz, age 55 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2024, at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA after a long illness. Born on February 24, 1969, in Winchester, VA she was the daughter of Dollye Lee Shoemaker Benson of Winchester, VA and the late Wallace Kenneth Stotlemyer, Jr. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stacy Stotlemyer and a stepfather, John Benson.

Denise's legacy is one of warmth, compassion, and dedication. She attended Moorefield High School and received her GED from the South Branch Career & Technical Center. She had a passion for cooking, as her culinary skills delighted many, animals, and tending to flowers. Her love for her family was boundless, especially spending time with and finding solace with her grandson, Bryson, cherishing those special moments dearly.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Madison Cruz and Ashley Stotlemyer of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Wallace Stotlemyer, III of Winchester, VA; a grandson, Bryson and two half-sisters, Kathy Meade of Winchester, VA and Jennifer Helmick of Jane Lew, WW.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.  Pastor Dennis Helmick will officiate the service, where friends and family can gather for remembrance starting at 10:00 AM.
