Miss Cora Virginia Woerner, age 73 of Frederick, MD passed away at her residence on Friday, April 28, 2004. Born April 5, 1931 in Moorefield, WV she was a daughter of the late Otto George Woerner and Cora William Kessel Woerner. She was preceded in death by a brother; Charles M. Woerner of Fisher, WV and two sisters, Mary H. Fike of Fisher, WV and Nellie W. Biller of Lost River, WV. She was the last member of her immediate family. Miss Woerner was a graduate of Moorefield High School, a 2-time graduate of West Virginia University. She also completed 30 hours of Postgraduate courses in business education at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Maryland and Robert Morris College. She taught 30 years in high schools, 22 years of which were in Maryland with 16 of them at Thurmont. Miss Woerner was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Frederick, MD. She was a life member of the National Education Association, a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, a member of the Maryland State Retired Teachers Association and the Frederick County Retired Teachers Association and a member of the AARP. Miss Woerner was a volunteer with the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from 1984 ? 1991; was a quilter with the Frederick Senior Citizens Center, and was a volunteer with the Frederick County Chapter, American Red Cross from 1991 ? 1999. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Olivet Cemetery.
