Charles Junior Riggleman, age 85 of Hope Mount Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away at his home Wednesday morning, August 7, 2013. Born June 11, 1928 in Rig, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Morton Riggleman and Rebecca Martha (Barr) Riggleman Halterman. He was a 1947 graduate of Moorefield High School. In July 1947 he joined the United States Army Security Agency and retired as a First Sergeant after 23 years in June 1970. While serving his country he served overseas in Japan, Turkey, Vietnam and Germany. After retiring from the US Army, he served as Deputy Director of the WV Department of Veterans Affairs for 22 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the Denny-Moyers-Pratt, Post # 9606 V.F.W; where he served as Service Officer, Quartermaster and as a Post Commander. He was also a lifetime member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion, a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #9, and a member of the 40 & 8 Hardy County Voiture #1623, and a past member of the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine (Baldwin) Riggleman; two daughters, Karen S. Franks of Charleroi, PA and Rebecca Lynn Riggleman of Moorefield, WV; a son, Gary A. Riggleman of Moorefield, WV; a step-daughter, Brenda K. Skubis of Fairmont, WV a brother, Norval P. Riggleman of Fairfax, VA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Jay Parkins officiating. Interment will follow with Full Military Graveside Honors accorded by the US Army at Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
