Charles Wilbur Hefner, age 84 of S. Elm Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday morning, August 24, 2016 at his residence. Born May 19, 1932 in Green Spring, WV, he was a son of the late James Brooks & Angie Blanche (Crites) Hefner. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion. & the Moorefield Lodge #29 A.F. & A.M. His step-mother, Minnie Shockey Hefner; two brothers, Robert and Wayne also preceded him in death. Charles wore many hats in the community over the years including Chief of Police of Moorefield, City Police Judge, a Constable for Hardy County, a Magistrate, a Jailer for Hardy County and retired from the Hardy County Schools as the Transportation Director. Surviving is his wife Geraldine Ruth (Constable) Hefner; a son, Larry Boo Hefner and wife Carol of Moorefield, WV; a daughter, Patsy Ann Nelson and husband Rocky of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Gelia Hefner Ours of Moorefield, WV; three grandchildren, Shelly & Jason Cullers, Lara Bennett & Brandi Sions all of Moorefield, WV and four great-grandchildren, Remington, Benelli, Derringer & Izaiah. Funeral Services will be conducted 12:00 PM (Noon) Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Daryl Dunsmore & Russell Webster officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Army at the Asbury Cemetery, North River Road, Baker, WV. The family will receive friends from 4 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
