Carol Louise Shockey, age 76 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday evening, October 3, 2021, at the E.A. Hawse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV. Born on July 13, 1945, in Petersburg, WV, she was daughter of the late Raymond Glenwood Funkhouser and Elva Viola Pennington Funkhouser. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Wayne Funkhouser & Charles Funkhouser and sisters, Erma Coffman & Eileen Dove.
Carol was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren and was very active in the church when able. In her younger years, she and her husband enjoyed camping at Wapocoma and later at Jennings Randolph Lake. She enjoyed cooking for the family and often would busy herself with a word search book.
Surviving is her husband, Donald Eugene Shockey; a son, Randall E. Shockey, wife Kelly of Moorefield, WV, a daughter, Donna L. Delawder, husband Jamie of Petersburg, WV; grandchildren, Brooke Greenwalt (Lucas), Emily Shockey (Nathan Mowery) and Thomas Hedrick, Jr (Brandi); two great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Kelley of Herndon, VA; a sister-in-law, Lillian Funkhouser and numerous other family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, near Moorefield, WV with Pastor Gary Shirk, Jr. officiant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services. Inurnment will follow in Walnut Grove Gardens adjacent to the church.
