Leslie Carlton Newhouse, age 69, of St. Augustine, FL, formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 in Jacksonville, FL. Born September 14, 1936 at Bass, WV, he was the son of the late Leslie Harvey Newhouse and Hester (Wolfe) Newhouse of Moorefield, WV, who currently resides with his sister, Ann Newhouse Byrd and her husband Roger, of Palmyra, PA. Surviving is his wife, Judy Simmons Newhouse, formerly of Moorefield, WV; his daughter Lynn Newhouse, of Jacksonville, FL and her two children Amanda Tappin age 15 and Jon Lewis, who preceded him in death on July 11, 1991 at the age of 7 years; his son Michael Newhouse, who is currently protecting our country by serving as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, currently stationed in Stuttgart, Germany with his wife Gwendolyn Woods Newhouse and their three children Joshua age 10, Myles age 9 and Isabella age 2; and his daughter Carla Newhouse Cassidy, of Gainesville, FL with her husband William Cassidy, III and their son Jacob age 6. Carlton was retired from the United States Postal Service, where he was a dispatcher at the Bulk Mail Center of Jacksonville, FL. He was also retired from the United States Navy. He was an active member of the Moose, Lodge no. 184, the Masonic Lodge, Clinton Lodge no.86 the Order of Eastern Star, Romney Chapter no. 84 the American Legion, Post no. 64 Moorefield, WV and the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch no. 91. There will be no public funeral arrangements made. He will be honored and remembered in a private family gathering at St. Augustine Beach, FL in acknowledgement of his final wishes.
