Camille Frances Gagne

March 21, 2003 — June 9, 2021

Camille Frances Gagné, 18, of Kensington, MD, lost her life in a car accident the evening of June 9, 2021. She was the beloved younger daughter of Pierre and Anne Gagné, sister of Sarah Gagné, cherished granddaughter of Ruby Boyle and Frank Boyle (deceased) and Raymond and Sally Gagné, niece of Cybèle Gagné (Mike Althaus), Kate Hopkins (Case), and Timothy Boyle (Rachel), and cousins Matthew and Spencer Hopkins.

Camille was a recent graduate of Walter Johnson High School and had been accepted by the University of Maryland College Park in the Arts Scholars program where she planned to major in chemistry. In high school she was in the Advanced Placement Experience Scholar’s Program, Advanced Curriculum for Excellence in Science, and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Walter Johnson cross country and indoor and outdoor track teams for three years; activities curtailed this last year because of covid.

Camille was a happy, busy young woman who loved running, gardening in many forms, baking breads and desserts, and art, chiefly ceramics. She was famous in her house for her speed in finishing jigsaw puzzles. Camille happily anticipated starting at the University of Maryland where her older sister is a senior.

The family is grateful to friends and the community for their compassion and aid. An online gift donation to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland can be made in memory of Camille at https://giving.umd.edu/giving/fund.php?name=department-of-chemistry-and-biochemistry-undergraduate-scholarship-fund.
