Bonnie Louise Weatherholtz Srout, age 82, passed away suddenly but peacefully, Sunday, June 30, 2024, at her home in Longview, NC. Born on March 13, 1942, at home in Hardy County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Homer Elmer Weatherholtz and Martha Virginia (Pratt) Weatherholtz.
She retired as a Walmart Associate, where she loved meeting and talking to people. She also worked at Shuford Mills for 25 years. Bonnie was a regular at the Hickory Crawdads' baseball games. She knew everyone and loved stopping to talk. When she could no longer attend, she became a loyal Atlanta Braves fan, watching every game on television. An animal lover, she had several pets throughout the years, always feeding the neighborhood cats but her dog Gizmo was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by six siblings, Ethel Funk of Moorefield, WV, Mae Saville of Kirby, WV, Elmer Weatherholtz of Columbus, GA., Jean Kuykendall of Petersburg, WV, Albert P. Weatherholtz of Moorefield, WV, and Ocie R. Weatherholtz of Hardy County, WV
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara S. (Thomas H.) Platt of Conover, NC, and her son, Chester A. Srout of the home; a sister, Suzella Bean of Moorefield, WV; three grandchildren, Patricia White of Conover, NC, Thomas H. (Amanda) Platt of Casper, WY, and Michael A. Srout of Hickory, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler C. (Christina) White of Erwin, TN, Dylan T. (Victoria) White of Rockledge, FL, Kristen L. White of Conover, NC, Parker Bowles of Conover, NC, Emily K. Srout of Valdese, NC, Blake A. Srout of Valdese, NC, and Mason T. Platt of Casper, WY.; three great-great grandchildren, Hunter I. White of Erwin, TN., Brantley White of Rockledge, FL, and Hudson T. White of Erwin, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life with close friends and family will be held 6 – 8 PM Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
