Anita Lorraine Funkhouser

Anita Lorraine Funkhouser, age 91 of Central Avenue, Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 16, 2021 at the Grant memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born July 12, 1930  in Hardy Co., WV, she was a daughter of the late Hazel Virginia Raines and Loring Hugh Vance, Sr. She was married in 1956 to Ralph Curry “Tud” Funkhouser and to this union was born a daughter Andrea “Andi” Jo. “Tud” preceded Anita in death in July 1982; in addition, two brothers, Paul L. Raines and Elwood Raines also preceded her in death.

Anita graduated from Moorefield High School, Class of 1948 and for most of her life worked at various Moorefield businesses except for a few years at Potomac Valley Bank in Petersburg.  She and her husband also ran a small mom and pop operation on Central Avenue for a period of time.  She retired from Mid-Atlantic Insurance, formally McNeill Insurance.

Surviving is her daughter Andi and husband Leon Evans of Maysville, WV; grandsons, Leon (Elizabeth) Evans and Westley Evans; a great-grandson, Miles Evans and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Due to the current COVID-19 recommendations, wearing of masks and social distancing by individuals unvaccinated is recommended.

Graveside Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Olivet Cemetery with Pastor Debbie Nicol officiant. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 5 -8 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
