Alreda Marcelle Whittaker

Alreda Marcelle Whittaker, age 89 of Lee Street, Moorefield, WV, passed away Saturday morning, November 14, 2020 at Piney Valley Nursing Home in Keyser, WV. Born on May 14, 1931 in Washington, DC she was raised by Charles Russell Hughes and Inez Victoria Rotruck Hughes. Her husband Galen Calvin Whittaker preceded her in death in August 1991. A grandson, four brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Alreda attended the Moorefield Church of God and was regularly active in church activities, especially dinners. She was very artistic, especially with ceramics but enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She loved gospel music and her entire family were incredibly talented musicians including herself as a pianist.

Surviving is her daughter, Gayle W. Lester of Jamesville, NC; two grandchildren, Sabreena Nicole Hall of Martinsburg, WV and John Earl Hall, II of Jarrettsville, MD; three great-grandchildren, Zoie Allison Williams of Petersburg, WV, Seth Ryan Williams of Maysville, WV and John Earl Hall, III of Jarrettsville, MD and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
