Allen Jackson Barb, age 85 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the E.A. Hawse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Baker, WV. Born August 26, 1929 in Moorefield, WV, he was the son of the late Ashby Jackson Barb and Cora Elizabeth (Ratliff) Barb. Five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. He was the last member of his immediate family. Allen had retired from Wampler-Longacre Poultry after serving as a supervisor for numerous years. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Mary Virginia (Kimble) Barb; two daughters, Brenda K. & Terry Hulver of Baker, WV and Ella Mae & Jeffrey McInerney of Davenport, FL; two grandchildren Richard Allen Hulver and Michelle Lee Allison and two great-grandchildren, Jordan Allison and Kathryn Mae Allison. Allen was a US Army Retiree having served his country for 22 years domestically and overseas in Germany for two tours and Korea for two tours including one during the Korean War. He served on the US Army Pistol Team where he finished 6th overall out of 2700 in a National Shooting Contest. He was awarded the Presidents Hundred tab for exceptional shooting at the contest. He had been awarded three Good Conduct Awards, a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the US Service Medal, a Sharpshooter Rifle Badge and a Distinguished Pistol Badge. He was a Life Member of the Denny-Moyers-Pratt, Post #9606 V.F.W, a member of the American Legion Post #78 of Petersburg, WV and a member of the Moorefield Lodge # 29 A.F & A.M. as a Master Mason Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow at the South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV where Military Honors will be accorded by the US Army.
