Alfred James Bud Swiger, Sr., age 85 of Backwoods Lane, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday evening, July 5, 2004 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born May 6, 1919 in Lumberport, WV, he was a son of the late Charles & Elvira (Richards) Swiger. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Post# 579. His first wife, Francis E. (Metz) Swiger, seven brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife, Ruth Ann (Todd) Swiger; two sons, Alfred J. Fred Swiger, Jr. of Poland, NY and Kenny Davis of Moorefield, WV; four daughters, Deloras Alexander of New Port Richey, FL, Vivian Abe of Strasburg, VA, Christina Kittredge of Gore, VA and Brenda Sandy of Stephens City, VA; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with Rev. Richard Glass officiating. Interment followed with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the US Army and the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard at the Olivet Cemetery.
